Evolving Faith, Marginalization, and Mental Health Awareness

We know that the process of an evolving faith is not just about changing belief but is a journey connected to our bodies, minds, and spirits. What is the relationship between mental health, spiritual practice, and our personal identities? Mental health is an important aspect of our lives as embodied beings, and people of color, LGBTQIA+ folk, and other marginalized groups often face additional challenges and stigmas in seeking mental health care.

Check out this conversation (previously streamed on Instagram Live) between justice educator Alicia Crosby Mack (EF’s community cultivation curator) and clinical social worker Kenji Kuramitsu (EF’s director of spiritual formation and care), who shared aspects of their own experiences navigating these conversations, considered the importance of mental health in maintaining a connection with spiritual meaning, and explored ways to support flourishing in our collective and individual mental health.
